Two-time BRIT Award winner Becky Hill partners with Chase & Status on “Disconnect,” her incendiary new dancefloor anthem. Released today by Astralwerks, Disconnect” is available for download / streaming HERE. Hill and the legendary UK duo wrote the track with Emily Makis, Karen Poole and Kieron McIntosh.
Becky says, “A decade on from ‘Afterglow’ and I honestly didn’t think that I’d be able to do it again, but I have never been more excited about a drum ‘n’ bass tune like I am about ‘Disconnect.’ It’s a true dance floor record that tows the line between the rave and the radio, and to be working with the likes of Chase & Status, who I have dreamed of working with since I was a teenager, is a real moment for me. It’s been going off at festivals over the last few months and I can’t wait for everyone to have it for themselves. I’m so proud of this one.”
Chase & Status are one of the most successful British bands of the last decade. Consummate professionals at every level, Will Kennard and Saul Milton are contemporary vanguards of UK electronic music, merging influences from UK rave, sound system culture, hip hop, RnB, grime, punk and a myriad of other musical styles. With over one billion combined global streams across their entire discography, their hits include “Count on Me” (ft. Moko), “Blind Faith” (ft. Liam Bailey), “End Credits” (ft. Plan B) and “Mixed Emotions” (ft. Clementine Douglas). They have also produced three Rihanna albums – Rated R, Talk That Talk and Unapologetic – helmed Rita Ora’s No. 1 UK hit “RIP” and reworked Jay-Z’s “D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune).” The duo is currently on the road, playing festivals around the world.
Hill, who completed a sold-out tour of the U.S. last fall (her first), will return to the States for Outside Lands and a trio of headline shows. She’ll be playing The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles (August 10), The Royale in Boston (October 5) and New York City’s Brooklyn Steel (October 6). Tickets are available HERE. The Guardian recently connected Hill with Fatboy Slim to prep the “Glasto virgin” on what to expect at her debut Glastonbury performance. Check out their chat HERE.
“Disconnect” comes on the heels of Hill’s collaboration with Lewis Thompson, “Side Effects,” which has amassed over 20 million combined global streams to date while combined worldwide views on TikTok have surpassed 49 million. The song is in the top 20 of Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs tally and the UK’s Official Dance Singles Chart. Watch the official video, which was directed by KC Locke (David Guetta, Ed Sheeran, Stormzy), HERE.
Billboard said, “A wondrous dance song like ‘Side Effects’ isn’t the least bit surprising when considering Becky Hill’s track record: the UK house mainstay has been scoring hits for nearly a decade, and her voice is pristinely attuned to this type of kinetic energy.” EUPHORIA. Magazine noted, “‘Side Effects’ is about the lingering feelings we have after a breakup…wonderfully delivered with Hill’s powerful and soulful vocals, which is something that she has been widely praised for.” Popdust marveled, “If there’s one thing guaranteed about Becky Hill: it’s that she will make a dance club banger.”
Described by David Guetta as “one of the very rare queens of dance of music,” Hill won back-to-back BRIT Awards in 2022 and 2023 for Best Dance Act. She charted four No. 1 hits at U.S. dance radio in 2022: “Run” with Galantis – praised by MTV News as an “uplifting and free track” – “Crazy What Love Can Do” with David Guetta and Ella Henderson, “History” with Joel Corry and “Words.”
With an irrefutable aptitude for writing chart-smashing pop songs and a reputation as a trailblazer in the electronic music scene, Hill was the third most-streamed British female solo artist on Spotify in 2021 while her single “Remember” was the fifth most streamed song by a British female. A collaboration with David Guetta from her debut studio album, Only Honest On The Weekend, “Remember” recently went viral, more than a year after its release. The song, which is certified Gold in the U.S., has amassed over 781 million combined global streams and over 700,000 creates on TikTok, which have over 2.8 billion combined views.
