Genre-bending singer-songwriter Michael J Woodard returns with a soul-baring new single, “FACE.” His gorgeous vocals shine as he sings of self-discovery and finding the courage to verbalize his deepest feelings. Released today via Unsub Records – the indie label founded by Katy Perry, who has championed Woodard since his days as a finalist on “American Idol” – “FACE” is available for download / streamingHERE.
"‘Face' is a record that is so special to me. It's about the struggle of not being able to verbalize the way you feel about someone you love, yet the emotion is clearly expressed on your face.I wanted to capture the feeling of liking someone and just not being able to hide it. The lyrics capture the disorienting nature of feeling so strongly for someone but only being able to express your feelings through your facial expressions. I hope you love it and it gives you all the feels"
The official video for “FACE” puts a surreal spin on Woodard’s internal journey. Hooked up to an IV, he finds himself in a remote desert location amid a group of people with shrouded faces. The striking video was directed by Janush Libicki (American Authors, GG Magree), Woodard’s main visual collaborator, who also helmed the video for his recent single “Trouble.”
