8-year-old Australian rapper/singer Sahxl (pronounced “Sa-hil”) premieres the official video for his soul-baring new single “My Mind.” An unfiltered portrait of post-breakup angst, the track spotlights the deeply personal storytelling that’s made Sahxl one of the most compelling new stars on the global scene.
Produced by JofromYo (Pop Smoke, A Boogie With Da Hoodie, G Herbo), “My Mind” delivers Sahxl’s signature hybrid of hypnotic hip-hop and slow-burning R&B. With its smooth beats and addictive melodies, the track is a perfect vessel for Sahxl’s powerfully expressive voice.
“‘My Mind’ is a track about infatuation, almost an obsession, with an ex-lover you may have once had,” Sahxlexplains. “It’s about the constant battle in your mind of trying to let go, but also trying to hold onto the memories you once had with this significant other.”
The video for “My Mind” marks the latest collaboration between Sahxl and directors ASHI & NAVSREVENGE. Earlier this month, he teamed up with the duo to create the stunningly cinematic visual for “Pick Yourself Up” — watch it HERE.
Despite his young age, Sahxl has years of experience in crafting emotionally honest music with an unforgettable impact. To that end, the Western Sydney native first started recording his own songs in his bedroom when he was only 12, overcome by the urge to make sense of his inner struggles. “I had a lot of energy built up inside and I had nowhere to put it because I was very lost,” says Sahxl. “I saw people doing a lot of things around me in school and I never really found a place to fit in, so music was my go-to. All the emotions — everything around me, everything I felt — I turned it into music.”
With more new music on the way soon, Sahxl remains devoted to creating songs that intimately capture a whole spectrum of the human experience.
