Raw Entertainment Magazine Dr. Dre’s Greatest Club Hits

Of course the past week has been all about Straight Outta Compton, the new film about the group N.W.A.  The film made $60 million over the first weekend.  Seeing as though it cost $29 million to make, it is safe to say it will be very profitable.
In a previous post, I reviewed the music that was inspired by the film.  I will not call it a soundtrack, as only one of the songs actually appeared in the film, but after you listen to the album, you will know that it was definitely inspired by the movie.
Dr. Dre had a mythical album, Detox, that was supposed to be released at one point or another over the past ten years or so, but recently Dre said that it was never released because he did not like the music.  When you have a track record, I guess you can just shelve an album, because while it may sell well out of the gate, the negative reviews may end up tarnishing someone’s legacy.  I personally do not have a string of hits out there, so if I have a few tracks that I want to put out, I am not thinking about my legacy!  I just want to put it out!
As you know, I have been a club DJ for over 20 years, and I have played many tracks over the course of my career.  Being from California and now residing in Las Vegas, I tend to play more of the West Coast vibe, and many Dr. Dre tracks ended up in my sets because of the smooth, funky, old school inspired grooves.
For this post I thought I would list Dr. Dre’s top ten club hits.  I want to specify the word club, because these will be tracks that work in the clubs, not necessarily songs that you groove to in the car, riding down the street.  All of these tracks are either produced, performed or written by Dr. Dre.
So, here we go…..Exotic DJ’s Top Ten:  Dr. Dre’s Greatest Club Hits…..These are in no particular order.

The Next Episode – Dr. Dre f/Snoop Dogg

Without Me – Eminem
