Currently undefeated in his professional career, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. is a five-division world champion and is often cited by sports publications as the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world. The son of welterweight boxer Floyd Mayweather, Sr., Floyd Jr. comes from a family of boxers that also includes two uncles.
Mayweather’s career began as an amateur in the early 1990s. Mayweather participated in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, winning a bronze metal in a controversial decision. He entered professional boxing afterward, winning each of the bouts he was in, including fights against De La Hoya, Mosley, and Cotto. He most recent win was a re-match in September 2014 against Marcos Maidana.
Manny Pacquiao
The world’s only eight-division champion, Manny Pacquiao has won ten world titles and has won lineal championships in four different weight classes. Before starting his professional career, Pacquiao was a member of the Phillippine National Amateur Boxing Team, with a reported record of 60-4.
Pacquiao began boxing as a light flyweight in 1995. He then worked his way up through the divisions, participating in fights against Márquez, Morales, De La Hoya, Mosley, and Cotto, among others. Pacquiao currently holds a 57-5-2 record.
