The son of welterweight boxer Floyd Mayweather, Sr., Floyd Jr. comes from a family of boxers that also includes two uncles.
Mayweather’s career began as an amateur in the early 1990s. Mayweather participated in the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, winning a bronze metal in a controversial decision. He entered professional boxing afterward, winning each of the bouts he was in, including fights against De La Hoya, Mosley, and Cotto. The world’s only eight-division champion, Manny Pacquiao has won ten world titles and has won lineal championships in four different weight classes. Before starting his professional career, Pacquiao was a member of the Phillippine National Amateur Boxing Team, with a reported record of 60-4.
Pacquiao began boxing as a light flyweight in 1995. Although he was under the weight limit by seven pounds, he placed weights in his shoes in order to qualify for the division, and won his first bout in January of that year. He then worked his way up through the divisions, participating in fights against Márquez, Morales, De La Hoya, Mosley, and Cotto, among others. Pacquiao currently holds a 57-5-2 record.
