Ship Wrek – hailed as “one of the fastest-rising acts in electronic music” by EDM.com – released their incendiary new single, “Stimulate,” today via Astralwerks. The Los Angeles-based duo produced a contagious dancefloor anthem melding soulful, echoing vocals, an Infectious, hypnotic bass and percussion line with funky synths into a high-energy song that propels listeners towards enlightenment with the refrain, “When fools begin to open up their eyes.
“We made ‘Stimulate’ during quarantine,” says Ship Wrek. “We were itching to get back on the road and knew we had to make something fresh for when shows came back. There was a lot of nonsense going on in the world in the last few years and this song is dedicated to opening your eyes to the truth. For the artwork, we teamed up with our boy Zachokami to create something to emphasize the message of mass awakening.”
The captivating cover art harkens back to the same theme of opening one’s mind and to music’s stimulating effect on the brain. In this feature, a Johns Hopkins otolaryngologist says, “There are few things that stimulate the brain the way music does…It provides a total brain workout.” Zachokami, who works closely with Ship Wrek on their visuals and content, also created the artwork for Ship Wrek’s first NFT collection, which was auctioned on Blockparty earlier this year.
Ship Wrek, composed of Tripp Churchill and Collin Maguire, came together in 2019 and have quickly become one of the most prolific production teams in electronic music. Dubbed the “captains of the club,” they recently played EDC Weekend in Las Vegas, E-Zoo in New York City, and Freaky Deaky in Houston. Next up is their debut Las Vegas headline show at fabled Hakkasan Nightclub on Friday, November 19th.
