Swedish duo sweeep and Sace have released their single, ‘gaze’, on the 21st of May via the Secret Souls imprint. The single follows the recently released ‘burn down my mind’ and both will appear on the collaborative project from the label run by lo-fi royalty eevee which will feature several underground artists. Producer and DJ, sweeep is known for her ethereal soundscapes and has received support from Metal Magazine, Stereofox, The Line Of Best Fit, CLASH Magazine, Red Bull Music Academy, Inverted-audio and Future Mag as well as the established Youtube channels Ambient, the_accidental_poet, Bass Nation, and Fluidified. She has been doing DJ mixes for channels like BBC Radio Bristol, HÖR and 20ft Radio, as well as touring in the US and EU.
Samuel Rogstrom operates under the alias Sace as well as Silent Boy. As Sace, he creates his transcendent and ethereal synths. He has previously worked with vowl. and been supported by Bass Nation and Trap Nation, contributing to over 17 million plays across platforms. The producer focuses on developing a combination of trap beats and dark detuned saw waves. In his side project, Silent Boy, he focuses on the songwriting aspect of his creative pallet. Both the Sace and Silent Boy projects were recognised along with sweeep on the previous single, ‘burn down my mind’.
sweeep has evolved her style over the last few years focusing on the ambient aspects of her signature sound, combined with her reverberant vocals. Her dark atmospheric world has collided with Sace, a collaboration which calls to mind the likes of Lorn, CHVRN, Shlohmo, and Clams Casino.
Their latest single, ‘gaze’ carries a transcendently wistful tone as synths meet with deep rhythmic basslines. Gentle and unassuming, sweeep’s vocals create a sanctuary against the conventional.
Speaking of their latest single, sweeep and Sace tell us: Both of us have been known producers in the same underground scene for a few years and its not many people from Stockholm who are into that type of music, so it felt natural that we should work on something together. Now we are both evolving our sounds by adding our vocals on the beats, which could move our music into a new context that is yet to be discovered.
